In an earlier post, I showed pictures of my celtic mug rugs on the loom. Over the weekend, I finished the project which went from graphing the designs from a cross-stitch book to weaving them in doubleweave pick-up. Now they are off the loom, edges stitched, washed in the washing machine, ironed flat, and ready to use.
There is something wonderful about the symmetry of celtic knotwork and design that people seem to enjoy. I showed them to my husband’s Irish family on Easter and got a very enthusiastic response.
The mug rugs were used recently with a glass of wine, but a mug of Guinness awaits this weekend for the real inauguration.
